Matt Gardner > Sports and exercise nutritionist > personal trainer > crossfit coach > The North face mountain athletics coach Background Food has been a fascination of mine from an early age, growing us with a mother owning a catering company I became interested in sourcing, preparing and delivering food to many different kinds of people. In my late teens I started to learn more about food as fuel as I embarked on a degree in Sports and Exercise sciences at The University of Birmingham and played part time for a national league rugby club. My interest in sports nutrition grew as a result, therefore once I finished my undergraduate I looked to delve deeper into the sports nutrition realm. As a result I became a certified Sports and Exercise Nutritionist through the Guru Performance Institute and I was lucky enough to work as a performance nutritionist for two seasons with a professional rugby club. My exercise background therefore is in strength and conditioning and more recently I have become a certified Crossfit Coach. For the past two years I have been applying my trade in the city working with busy executives, entrepreneurs and corporate companies delivering personal and semi private training, boot camps, nutrition consultations and a personal chef service In my spare time I am pursuing my education more in terms of food as medicine, with the college of naturopathic medicine, where I am studying nutritional therapy.
