﷯trainer Stuart's Grand to Grand Training blog 6 STAGES, 7 DAYS • SELF-SUPPORTED FOOT RACE • 169 MILES (273KM) As I start this blog there are just 62 days left until the start of my next ultra marathon adventure. Like all multi day stage races the Grand to Grand is a self supported foot race requiring all participants to carry everything they need on their backs for the entire week. The only thing provided by the organisers are a tent at the end of each day and water handed out at various checkpoints. This will be my 6th stage race and so I have a fair amount of experience now, and with every race comes new wisdom. I have learnt the hard way what does and does not work for me personally and have changed both my training and kit selection for every one of the races i have done. Over the next 62 days I will be blogging about my training, food, hydration, nutrition, footwear, strategy and choice of kit for the G2G. Im not suggesting that what I do is the best way, but they are tried and tested and have worked well for me in the past. I have tested myself physically and mentally in some of the most extreme environments and races, and as both a passionate ultra marathon runner and a personal trainer hope that I can help others achieve their goals and unlock their potential using a similar approach. One of the first things I often get asked by people who hear about the events I do is 'why'. I will address that question in my next blog coming very soon...
